FAQs

Applicant prints are different from criminal prints and are only used for comparison in the criminal database. A new background or criminal history check must be conducted for each new employment or licensing application submitted. The results will be sent from CJIS to the requesting agency or individual. Additionally, by law, applicant prints and demographic information are destroyed by our personnel 90 days after collection, so we retain no records beyond that time.

At this time, we do not accept walk-ins. Please use our user-friendly online scheduler to easily book your appointment. Appointments are scheduled every 15 minutes to ensure prompt service.

When you contact us to request our services, the Fingerprint Technician will provide you with the exact fee based on the specific type of background check required for your application or employer.

The processing time for your request is typically 15-20 minutes, although it may be shorter depending on the quality of your prints and the number of people in the office. We operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Sometimes, if you arrive at the same time as others, you may spend extra time in our office. Therefore, it's advisable to allocate some extra time for your visit. Additionally, our office can be opened on Saturdays and Sundays if there is a group of 5 or more people who wish to visit. However, this group must call a day or two in advance to schedule their visit.

We are open Monday- Friday from 7:00 AM-7:00 PM, and Saturdays from 9:00 AM-5:00 PM by appointment only due to high demand for our mobile fingerprinting services. You will have to check in 30 minutes before closing time unless you have made some prior arrangement with the office.

Applicants should wait at least seven days before checking the status of their background check. Typically, it takes 5 to 10 days to receive a copy of the report in the mail, and the requesting agency will get the results within 72 hours. Please be aware that our company does not have access to the results of the background check. To check the status of your background check, please use the phone number provided on the receipt given to you by the Fingerprint Technician. If you do not receive a copy of the report, please contact the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services directly at 410-764-4501.

A Livescan fingerprint technician rolls/scans an applicant’s fingerprints and submits them electronically to the State of Maryland Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) who then forwards this information to the FBI depending on the type of background check the person is doing. It takes approximately fifteen minutes for a certified fingerprint operator to type in applicant information (i.e. Name, birth date, gender, etc.) into the computer, scan applicant fingerprints, and electronically send the information to CJIS and FBI. Next, CJIS and the FBI process the applicant’s criminal background check using the information provided by the applicant and his/her fingerprints. CJIS and FBI background checks can take 2-7 business days to be completed although in some rare cases, results may take longer or even shorter depending on how busy they are. Lastly, CJIS and the FBI will send applicant's criminal history background checks directly to the requesting agency or employer. (For an individual/personal review, the information will be sent directly to the person fingerprinted.)

You will have to bring two valid photo IDs issued by the Government such as a passport and a State Driver’s license along with any fingerprint paperwork you have been provided with by your employer or requesting agency. We will accept any of the following VALID photo ID cards that are printed with your name and date of birth: Passport (both U.S. and foreign passports), Driver's License (or state-issued ID card), Permanent Resident Card (for non-U.S. residents), Military ID (Active Duty, Reserves, National Guard, Dependent, and Retired Military). If you aren't sure about which photo ID you have, please contact us first. In addition, you will need to complete a 911 Security and Investigation Pre-Registration Application in the office and give it to the Fingerprint Technician. If the background check is being completed for employment or licensing purposes, you must provide the agency name and authorization number. If you are being fingerprinted for a government position, you will also need the agency's "ORI" number.   Please know what type of checks you are required to have (Federal and State, or State only or Federal only). Our staff cannot answer questions as to which type of checks you should have. If you fail to provide this information, it will then be at the discretion of the fingerprint technician to decide whether to process you or not. 911 security and investigation services do not assume any responsibility, if the type of background check you request is wrong or not the one required by you or your employer.   ALSO NOTE: All minors less than 18 years of age requiring fingerprint services must come with their ids as well such as a passport and a state-issued id and also, must be accompanied by one of their legal parents who should also present documents such as a passport, driver’s license and birth certificate of the minor so that the fingerprint technician can examine it and establish that he/she is in fact, the legal parent. Failure to present this documents will result in the minor not being fingerprinted.
